Live Blogging from Cubs Convention 2011 – Saturday

Jeremy is at the Cubs Convention this weekend and providing updates via our Twitter account. We will post his tweets to the site for those of you that reject Twitter.

9:40 am – Good morning Cub fans. Things are moving slowly this morning. Wood is signing kids autographs.
9:52 am – 2016 is a long shot for allstar game.
10:05 am – Kerry Wood looks as if he actually enjoys being here.
10:46 am – Autograph lines are crazy. Castro signs at 2. 100+ people in his line already.
10:49 am – Sweet silent auction. I’m down for 40 on a Peter Cetera autographed ball.
10:50 am – Listening to Hendry, Quade, and Bush talk on WGN Radio. This ballroom is packed.
11:10 am – Signing name on Ron Santo Memorial. We’ll miss you Ron!
11:17 am – Milton Bradley autographed ball Ten bux.. No thank you.
11:19 am – Standing crazy guy style behind Wayne Messmer just to listen to his voice.
11:34 am – Fans catch Hendry in the hall. They seem pleased to see him.
11:35 am – Gave a 20 donation for HOF’r Gaylord Perry autograph ball.
11:38 am – Getting in line to redeem my free Aramis Ramirez autograph. I won this during registration yesterday.
11:41 am – An elderly woman in my Ramirez line tells me the Cubs will honor Ronnie with a statue. She appears to be fighting tears.
12:10 pm – Carlos Marmol has entered the room. He will be signing in the line opposite A-Ram.
12:18 pm – I have not seen or heard anything about Ryan Dempster. His foundation has a booth in one of the halls.
12:43 pm – Aramis is a grinner. I would the same if I exercised that player option. Wows.
12:47 pm – I’m pretty sure I just walked by Meat loaf. If not that guy might want to change his look.
1:22 pm – Rumor is some of the Bears players are entering the convention.
1:32 pm – Taking a little break. I’m going to sit at the entrance for awhile. Who will I see??
1:46 pm – Greg Olsen is through the gates. Oops he dropped his luggage.
1:55 pm – Ok. Back to the autograph room.
2:24 pm – Time to go up and check out the batting cages.
2:59 pm – Thanks to the Carlos Zambrano foundation. I won the hourly raffle for a signed ball.
3:24 pm – Weird mix I’m listening to. Grabow, Bielecki, Marshall, and Todd Walker.
3:28 pm – Good stories about pitching/hitting against your friends. Bielecki says Grace owned him back in the day
3:48 pm – Sean Marshall was very friendly. He was willing to sign for all who wanted it. Big Z wore dark sunglasses and wouldn’t speak.
4:01 pm – The Bears players are rolling in now.
4:09 pm – Glanville would be a good choice for the radio job. He is friendly an intelligent, and funny. Wait…maybe I should get the job.
4:13 pm – 4 Bears/Seahawks tix. End zone, 18 rows up, $1000.
4:51 pm – Z hasn’t missed a meal in the off season. His hair is reaching Predator level.
5:42 pm – Koyie Hill enjoys signing his name.
6:53 pm – Thanks for following our coverage of the 2011 Cubs Convention.

That wraps up Jeremy’s coverage of the convention. He will have a post on the site in the next few days with more details on what he witnessed this weekend. Jeremy will also be on this week’s podcast to talk about the convention.
