Is anybody else thinking our team is looking a little rickety at the moment? The celebrated former Penn QB has signed with the Giants, and I would have thought after last year they would put an extra value on someone that can play multiple positions and cover for Aramis’ annual month long hiatus. Not to [...]

There hasn’t been much going on with the Cubs to pull me out of my blogging hibernation. I hope you can forgive us for the lack of activity on Ivy Envy. As a Cubs fan, I’m sure you can understand the need to take a little time off from our boys in blue. It’s good [...]

Aaron Miles has played in 50 games this season. You might think that his .197 average is pretty frightening, but I think Miles’ scariest stat is his 4 RBI’s this season. For some reason, Lou brought him in last night to pinch hit with the bases loaded. He could have doubled his RBI total with [...]

There isn’t a whole lot to say here. La Russa dropped him straight into the cleanup spot to protect his Pujols. This one hurts.

Last night, the Single A Cubs affiliate, the Peoria Chiefs came to the Quad Cities to face our hometown River Bandits, which is a Cardinals affiliate. The Peoria roster is a little more loaded right now than usual. Josh Vitters and Ryan Flaherty are currently occupying the left side of the infield for the Chiefs. [...]

Yesterday, Sean Marshall pitched five strong innings in the Cubs’ 13-2 victory over the White Sox. It is nice to beat the Sox any time, but like I’ve said before, I don’t give much credence to preseason games. It was nice to see some of the strong performances, however.
-Our 5th man Marshall seems to be [...]

I know for a fact that I’m not the only Cubs fan that was confused by the trade of Mark Derosa. Now this won’t become a historical bad trade. This isn’t Ernie Broglio for Lou Brock. Heck, this isn’t even Ryne Sandberg and Larry Bowa for Ivan DeJesus. What it is, however, is a team [...]

Yesterday I settled in for nice long day of baseball. The World Baseball Classic was on, and the Cubs-Brewers matchup was actually being televised as well. It was going to be a good day, and not surprisingly, the WBC games ended up being the most exciting part of the day.
Cubs-related moments–
-Marmol pitched pretty well. He [...]

Thirty-three games left. Can the Cubs win 100 games for the first time since ’35? I think it is well within the realm of possibility. We still aren’t out of the woods yet as far as the NL Central race is concerned, but every day the promised land gets closer and closer. In my opinion, [...]

Ever since the All-Star break, it seems that we never know which bat the Cubs hitters will swing on a particular day. Too often it has been the ice bat, and quality starts are being wasted.
