So Lou is done, and his last day on the job was a ridiculous 16-5 loss to the Braves. Fortunately, the Ivy Envy bus-trippers went to the game the day before, which happened to be Piniella’s last victory as a manager. The photo above was taken at the game, and that moment was Lou’s last [...]

***This is Part II of the recap of my trip to Phoenix to watch the Cubs play the Diamondbacks. Check out Part I here. I will do the same mix of tweets and photos as I did in the first part.***
I left off with our little ticket mix-up. I went to will-call to pick up [...]

Let’s start out by saying that after a great series in Arizona, the Cubs didn’t play very well in L.A. Even though they put some runs on the board, the pitching was pretty atrocious overall. With that being said, what the hell was up with this crew of umpires? Brian Runge especially appeared to get [...]

In the last week or 10 days, I have nearly lost all interest in the Cubs. On Friday, Andy and I spent the afternoon at a bar in LeClaire, IA to watch the Cubs/Sox game and a World Cup match. I have little interest in soccer, though I do dabble in it during [...]

The Cubs came through last night with a 3-0 victory over the Dodgers. Kershaw is a tough pitcher and looked pretty sharp last night. Fortunately, Rafael Furcal’s defense didn’t. Kershaw only gave up one unearned run due to a Furcal error, and Lee’s 2-run homer was off the bullpen. Dempster was his usual self last [...]

Derrek Lee had another sub-par April this year. It was pretty remarkable how much I heard “He’ll be ok. He always starts off slow in April.” That’s what most logical Cubs fans were saying in April and May of 2009. There were many Cubs fans ready to jump the Derrek Lee [...]

Though the only news I’d really like to hear from the Cubs right now would be a trade sending Milton Bradley out of town, I was happy to hear that Ryne Sandberg will be managing the Iowa Cubs next year. Des Moines is only about 2 1/2 hours from Ivy Envy headquarters and I expect [...]

With a month left of the 2009 season, I’m ready to put it to bed. I realized during this week’s podcast that there isn’t really much to talk about and there’s still 27 games to play. What more is there to say? At this point, all conversation about 2009 dies and speculation of what will [...]

We would like to thank everyone that came down to Twenty on Tuesday to watch the Cubs and hang out with us. We had a great time and we were all flattered that 25 or 30 of you would spend the evening with us. If you haven’t heard the podcast yet, definitely check it out [...]

Aaron Miles has played in 50 games this season. You might think that his .197 average is pretty frightening, but I think Miles’ scariest stat is his 4 RBI’s this season. For some reason, Lou brought him in last night to pinch hit with the bases loaded. He could have doubled his RBI total with [...]
