So the Cubs “win one for Ted” campaign failed miserably last night, and sadly enough, the game was probably Lilly’s last as a Cub as he “appears certain to be traded.” My opinion is that the Cubs need to re-up Lilly and look to unload payroll elsewhere. The problem is that Lilly [...]

Since I’m on vacation, I don’t want to ruin this time of relaxation by actually putting together a thought-out post about this crummy team. So I’ll just put together a few thoughts here.
Since unloading 12 runs on the Angels in the final game of that series, the Cubs’ offense has disappeared. Since that game, the [...]

Derrek Lee had another sub-par April this year. It was pretty remarkable how much I heard “He’ll be ok. He always starts off slow in April.” That’s what most logical Cubs fans were saying in April and May of 2009. There were many Cubs fans ready to jump the Derrek Lee [...]

Jeff Samardzija has “earned” a spot in the bullpen to start the 2010 campaign for the Cubs. I had hoped to see Samardzija start in Iowa, and the move to have him up with the Cubs is just another step towards an inevitable ugly ending with Cubs fans. If you have been reading [...]

19 year old Starlin Castro is all the rave of Cubs spring training 2010. It is nearly impossible (in Cub circles) to avoid hearing what a prospect this young shortstop is. It has already been stated he will start the season in triple A. I’m convinced however, Jim Hendry is going to have Ryan Theriot whacked [...]

Today was the first televised game of the 2010 pre-season and I am very happy that Lou Piniella decided to hold off the Carlos Silva start for a televised game. What a pitching line:
2IP – 7H – 6ER – 2HR – 27.0 ERA
Was it fried chicken grease on his fingers? Maybe he was just [...]

Greg Maddux was hired as an assistant to Jim Hendry today. For the last two or three years, I’ve fantasized about Greg Maddux replacing Larry Rothschild. Regardless of his job duties, I’m glad to see Maddux involved with the Cubs. I also don’t feel as dirty about the Cubs retiring Maddux’s jersey, considering he chose [...]

There hasn’t been much going on with the Cubs to pull me out of my blogging hibernation. I hope you can forgive us for the lack of activity on Ivy Envy. As a Cubs fan, I’m sure you can understand the need to take a little time off from our boys in blue. It’s good [...]

Ok, so I’m a little late to this party. I’ve defended him for the entire season for two reasons.
1. Milton Bradley has abilities. He’s a good baseball player and he could contribute to the Cubs.
2. Fans are idiots and they were heckling him during Spring Training. We’re talking exhibition while he was playing well.
The whole [...]
