Derrek Lee had another sub-par April this year. It was pretty remarkable how much I heard “He’ll be ok. He always starts off slow in April.” That’s what most logical Cubs fans were saying in April and May of 2009. There were many Cubs fans ready to jump the Derrek Lee [...]

Though the only news I’d really like to hear from the Cubs right now would be a trade sending Milton Bradley out of town, I was happy to hear that Ryne Sandberg will be managing the Iowa Cubs next year. Des Moines is only about 2 1/2 hours from Ivy Envy headquarters and I expect [...]

The AAA All-Star Game will be on ESPN2 tonight and I’ll surely be watching. Matt Murton earned a spot on the PCL All-Star team. Chris Robinson, the catcher for the Iowa Cubs will be representing the team. Another name worth noting is Eric Patterson, who will be playing in the game for the Oakland AAA [...]

The Cubs game was good today. They played well and the new guys from Iowa did good. Somebody else will cover the baseball analysis better than I will.
I’m more concerned with whether the WGN television announcers are contractually obligated to say “Gatorade Machine” at lease once each inning.

Jeff Samaradzija will head West on I-80, back to Des Moines. I’m glad to see him going back to Iowa. Ideally, the Cubs would not have needed to bring him up already. It’s my understanding that the goal is for him to develop his third pitch in Iowa to become a Starter. [...]

I completely missed this news and I’d like to thank Kevin for the e-mail, alerting me. Matt Murton was called up to the Rockies from AAA Colorado Springs. Murton was batting .411 with four homeruns, six doubles and 19 RBI’s in 18 games. Matt has also stolen five bases. I’m really [...]

Jeff Samardzija will pass through my hometown as he heads on I-80 from Des Moines to Wrigley Field. As a huge Notre Dame fan, I’m pretty excited to see Samardzija get called up again. He was a pleasant and somewhat unexpected surprise last year as he played the role of one of those guys that [...]

It’s taken me a few days to come to terms with the fact that Matt Murton is no longer a member of the Chicago Cubs. Although I knew it was going to happen, I didn’t expect it to happen this early in July. It’s hard to put your feelings into words when things like this [...]

I won’t brag about every Jeff Samardzija accomplishment on Ivy Envy. Let’s be clear, my man-crush is on Matt Murton. But I have never owned any Cubs shirt/jersey with a name on the back and when Jeff Samardzija makes it to the Cubs and is issued a number, I will own one. I almost feel [...]

I don’t believe I have mentioned this on Ivy Envy yet, but I am a huge Notre Dame fan. So you can imagine how excited I was when Jeff Samardzija was drafted by the Cubs. I am sure the picture above will get us more hits from the HotJocks WordPress Blog that appreciates some of our pictures [...]
