***This is Part II of the recap of my trip to Phoenix to watch the Cubs play the Diamondbacks. Check out Part I here. I will do the same mix of tweets and photos as I did in the first part.***
I left off with our little ticket mix-up. I went to will-call to pick up [...]

***This is Part I of my “Cubs games in Phoenix” trip. I’ll post Part II tomorrow and you won’t want to miss tomorrow’s photos***
My wife and I take our kids to Southern California every summer for 3 weeks to visit my wife’s family. It just so happened that this year, the Cubs would [...]

In the last week or 10 days, I have nearly lost all interest in the Cubs. On Friday, Andy and I spent the afternoon at a bar in LeClaire, IA to watch the Cubs/Sox game and a World Cup match. I have little interest in soccer, though I do dabble in it during [...]

So far this team has been difficult to watch (as they always are), but there are some encouraging aspects we can hold on to while our hearts palpitate about the rest.
-I’m starting to feel fairly confident in the starting rotation. Dempster and Wells had great outings, and Zambrano looked a lot better yesterday. Dempster had [...]

The Cubs wrapped up their opening series in Atlanta last night and head to Cincinnati for their first look at an NL Central Division foe. So let’s take a look back at this, the first series in the 2010 season.
Monday: Braves 16 – Cubs 5
Pitching: Zambrano was bad, Samardzija was worse. Zambrano leaves with [...]

Marlon Byrd has taken it upon himself to assist the Cubs pitching staff this year by pointing it out to them that they are tipping their pitches. The most eye-catching name in this article is Carlos Marmol. I have no doubt that pitch tipping happens far more often that we know, but it would ideally [...]

So, Kevin Gregg had back-to-back blown saves this weekend, and tonight’s game featured back-to-back homeruns leading to that second blown save. While Saturday’s blown save eventually led to much excitement, today’s failure just led to a lot of swearing. Some Cubs fans who weren’t quite ready to kick Gregg to the curb may be ready [...]

Randy Wells must have entered tonight’s game thinking “I’m going to throw a no-hitter to ensure this awful bullpen doesn’t ruin another start for me.” Well, he nearly accomplished that. He took a no-hitter into the 7th and handed the game over to Marmol in the 8th with the Cubs leading 5-1. After an inning [...]

As I type this the Cubs are leading the Giants 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning. I do not want insurance runs. I want the Cubs to go down in order so the game will end sooner. When the Cubs take a lead past the seventh inning stretch my guts fill with bile [...]

Jeff Samardzija will pass through my hometown as he heads on I-80 from Des Moines to Wrigley Field. As a huge Notre Dame fan, I’m pretty excited to see Samardzija get called up again. He was a pleasant and somewhat unexpected surprise last year as he played the role of one of those guys that [...]
