In the last week or 10 days, I have nearly lost all interest in the Cubs. On Friday, Andy and I spent the afternoon at a bar in LeClaire, IA to watch the Cubs/Sox game and a World Cup match. I have little interest in soccer, though I do dabble in it during [...]

Hello there. Just a friendly reminder that we’ll be down at Twenty Sports Bar and Grille tonight to catch the Cubs / Brewers game. Cubs have Lilly on the hill and the Brewers are starting Gallardo.
The game starts at 7:10 PM, so go ahead and join us for drinks and some [...]

The Cubs jumped down to Atlanta for one game and were shutout for the sixth time this season. Four of those have come in the last 30 games. Last night, the Cubs had 10 hits with 12 total baserunners when you include Fukudome’s two walks. And once again, another good pitching performance is wasted.
I was [...]

Well, I think I picked a good weekend to get out of town and miss Cubs games. I was up in Wisconsin eating cheese and drinking Spotted Cow. Maybe I’ll just become a Brewers fan. Hell, I can get free tickets to Brewers games with the purchase of a Snickers bar at the Piggly Wiggly [...]

I’m not big on players fraternizing with guys on other teams. I know that is what baseball has become, though. Maybe players have always had generally good friendships with guys on other teams. Perhaps free agency has led to this. Players change teams enough that there is usually a pretty good chance they’ve played with, [...]

It was a chilly evening in Illinois last night and I was the only person left out at the backyard bar when, in the top of the 9th, Soriano hit his game-winning 2 run shot. I’m one of those Cubs fans that does not give up on a game. It’s not necessarily because [...]

I expected myself to be bored out of my mind tonight with no Cubs game. I’m feeling pretty calm and relaxed, though. I have kind of been on baseball/Cubs overload in the last week. So I kick back, turn on the Brewers vs. Giants game and pray the game goes into a ridiculous amount of [...]

I couldn’t resist titling this post with a bad sports page headline. I also can’t resist analyzing a few stats of spring training. It’s been exactly one month and I’ve been holding off, telling myself “it’s just spring training, don’t get too caught up in stats”. But I have to share my delight in the [...]

Yesterday I settled in for nice long day of baseball. The World Baseball Classic was on, and the Cubs-Brewers matchup was actually being televised as well. It was going to be a good day, and not surprisingly, the WBC games ended up being the most exciting part of the day.
Cubs-related moments–
-Marmol pitched pretty well. He [...]
