We will not have a podcast episode for this week. Two cases of electronic malfunction have taken out both of our options for recording.
We will hopefully be back in the saddle next weekend.

There’s been quite a bit of discussion in the Cubs blog-world about benching slumping veterans in favor of the young hot hands. I don’t understand this and I don’t mean to discount Hoffpauir’s talents, but I’d take Derek Lee in the lineup over Hoffpauir every game.
This is typically one of those arguments that is purely [...]

I have to give Tim credit for this one, so I’ll just re-type his text messages to me.
Tim: “He throws a lot more strikes than he does base on balls” – Ron Santo on Randy Wells.
Tim: Damn, Ron…I sure hope so.

The Cubs game was good today. They played well and the new guys from Iowa did good. Somebody else will cover the baseball analysis better than I will.
I’m more concerned with whether the WGN television announcers are contractually obligated to say “Gatorade Machine” at lease once each inning.

Well, I think I picked a good weekend to get out of town and miss Cubs games. I was up in Wisconsin eating cheese and drinking Spotted Cow. Maybe I’ll just become a Brewers fan. Hell, I can get free tickets to Brewers games with the purchase of a Snickers bar at the Piggly Wiggly [...]

The Cubs scored more runs tonight than they did in the entire road trip. Too bad the pitching sucked.
Lou Pinella looked and sounded utterly defeated after the game, and here is what he said:
“We just need to start winning a few ballgames, that’s it. When we start winning a few ballgames, uh, things’ll get better. [...]

This has been a dismal road trip for the Cubs. This streak of seven losses is the longest since ’06. The Cubs scored five runs during this six-game road trip. I keep watching every game, hoping that particular game will be the one the offense breaks out. But it isn’t time to pack the W [...]

The Cubs offense, Daddy! I think I see it!
The Chicago Cubs’ offense has been missing since Sunday, May 17th. A search party was formed last night at 10 eastern/7 pacific, but the offense is still missing. Investigative officials were following up on a lead accusing deranged man-of-the-cloth Jake Peavy of dragging the offense into [...]

This one is a few days early and a little shorter.
We discuss the recent woes and the series the Cubs just handed to the Cardinals. We cover it all and touch on the Jake Peavy/White Sox topic. We also play a clip from episode #9 where Paul predicts that Peavy will be dealt to the [...]

Padres – “Good news, Jake. We’ve worked out a trade and you’re going to Chicago.”
Peavy – “Oh, that’s great to hear. I’m really glad it’s worked out. I’d say I’ve waited long enough.”
Padres – “Yeah. Word has it that folks on the South Side are happy to have you on board.”
Peavy – “Southside?”
Padres – “Yeah…the [...]
