I know that everyone’s probably already talked this to death.. but here at Camp Shelby, I’m a few weeks behind the real world.. I know what’s going on in the real world, but my reaction time is a little slow.. That said, this is why I think the Cubs need Mr. Sandberg.
1. We need a [...]

It’s official. The Cubs have finally traded first baseman Derrek Lee to the Atlanta Braves for three pitching prospects. (The title of this post is supposed to be an Alice in Chains reference if you hadn’t caught that)
In the deal, the Cubs received two right handers, Robinson Lopez, 19, and Tyrelle Harris, 23, and one left hander, Jeffrey [...]

went well. I know this is old news at this point, but check out this link to the highlights–
Ted Lilly pitches a gem in his Dodger’s debut.
You’ve gotta love hearing Vin Scully. In case you were wondering (I don’t blame you if you weren’t), Ryan Theriot is currently 7-20 with the Dodgers.

Matt Murton
A few months ago, I noticed that Matt Murton was playing in Japan. He’s playing outfield for the Hanshin Tigers in the Central League of Nippon Professional Baseball. The Rockies sold Murton’s rights to the Japanese team in December. Murton would have been arbitration-eligible after batting .324/.389/.499 in Triple A in 2009. He did [...]

Today was the first televised game of the 2010 pre-season and I am very happy that Lou Piniella decided to hold off the Carlos Silva start for a televised game. What a pitching line:
2IP – 7H – 6ER – 2HR – 27.0 ERA
Was it fried chicken grease on his fingers? Maybe he was just [...]

Is anybody else thinking our team is looking a little rickety at the moment? The celebrated former Penn QB has signed with the Giants, and I would have thought after last year they would put an extra value on someone that can play multiple positions and cover for Aramis’ annual month long hiatus. Not to [...]

In the last few years, I have not hidden my love for Matt Murton. It dawned on me tonight that I hadn’t checked up on him since the end of last season. From April – October, “Matt Murton” may be my most Google’d term on this computer. I start at his Wikipedia page and plan [...]

Major League Baseball threw a big party today with signings all over the place. I’m assuming it was to celebrate the 24th Anniversary of the Bears winning the Super Bowl.
The Cubs finally named their 4th outfielder – Xavier Nady. I’m sure Cubs fans are already brainstorming nicknames based around the letter “X”. [...]

Greg Maddux was hired as an assistant to Jim Hendry today. For the last two or three years, I’ve fantasized about Greg Maddux replacing Larry Rothschild. Regardless of his job duties, I’m glad to see Maddux involved with the Cubs. I also don’t feel as dirty about the Cubs retiring Maddux’s jersey, considering he chose [...]

We are a little late with this, but we would still like to express our satisfaction that Andre Dawson was elected into the Hall of Fame. I have a weak opposition to the Hall of Fame, which I briefly explain in the 25th episode of the Ivy Envy Podcast. But I’m happy to see Dawson [...]
